“Save The Queen” For Cincinnati Ad Club

It was the start of 2021 when our good friends at Curiosity and the Ad Club of Cincinnati reached out to us. 2020 was a wild year. A weird year. And the shadow it cast would color the Cincinnati Addys, the first step in the American Advertising Federations yearly awards program which generally takes place in March.

Curiosity came to us with a vision and a plan; to make the Addys more than just a celebration, but to give back to the Queen City in the process. Having experience producing the show the year prior, and being invigorated by the vision and purpose, we immediately got to work producing the show.

“Save The Queen”

The design for this title sequence was inspired by early British Punk posters. The Bright colors are complimented by a fine analog grain texture which was achieved using scans of real 35mm Kodak film, marrying the feeling of contemporary minimalist motion to analog tactility.

The mission was to maintain abstraction in the visuals, but to build tension and release as the title sequence builds.

We also developed a custom theme song for the Addys this year, which was written and composed by Storyocity, and the vocals performed by a Cincinnati Artist, Cam White.

We love our advertising community. We strived to design a show that felt like it was given the respect the community deserves. This was our second year designing the show for the Ad Club, and we are ultimately very proud of the end results.

 Awards:

42nd Telly Awards, Gold Telly - Online Title Design

2022 Cincy Addy’s, Gold Addy - Original Sound & Music

2022 Cincy Addy’s, Silver Addy - Craft / Motion Graphics

Category Titles

The opening title sequence may get the accolades, but the viewing experience of the entire show is the real work. We developed an on screen presentation system and series of category titles, featuring more original sound & music to round out the entire “Save The Queen” awards show experience.

Research & Dev

Not every project starts in the same place it finishes, and often we prefer the ones who don’t. We ran through an exhaustive imaginative process based solely on the title, “Save The Queen” - below is a collection of assets generated by our team that were never used, or evolved further before approaching final principle production.
