“Greater Than”

Addiction isn’t a life sentence. This film is about the power of self redefinition, with words written and performed by the founder and matriarch of the transformational recovery program. Reflection is a powerful experience, and this film was designed to create an experience for the graduates as much as it was created to showcase to an audience. Each graduate gazed upon their portrait, projected 20+ feet tall in a dark space, with the words “Greater Than” super imposed over their face while they listened to the poem.

“Greater Than” is a short film created to celebrate the graduates of City Gospel Mission transformational recovery program. Each graduate had their motion portrait captured, and then that portrait was projected 20+ feet tall in a dark space.

Walking into a dark space and seeing their portraits that large was kept as a complete surprise for each graduate. We filmed their reactions as they looked at themselves and their peers while listening to the powerful words written and performed by the program founder and matriarch.

I am greater than my shame, my pain, my disappointments, and my let downs. I am about to go on a journey that helps me rediscover and redefined the events, experiences, the people, the places that I have hurt, and that have definitely hurt me.

I’m about to go on a journey that has been created for me way before the foundations of this world. And yes, it’s a little scary and I’m unsure, but I am greater than my fear. I am greater than my apprehensions. I am greater than my reservations. I am greater than who I thought I was before I took this first step towards the greatest journey in my life.

I am going to be open to opportunities that I never seen because there’s something greater than I’ve ever experienced waiting on me. What is waiting? I believe insight, wisdom, courage, change, truth. What else is waiting? My ability to know that I am greater than who I was, I am greater than what happened to me. I am greater than what other people have said about me. I am greater than what I have said about myself.

What else is waiting for me?I am going to learn that there is no great love than to love myself - to love God first and to learn to love others even after this journey.
