“At the end of everything, we’re coming together as communicators, filmmakers, designers, artists, whatever it is, and we’re trying to make something worth making. We want people to feel. And that takes real empathetic communication. That’s the holy grail I strive for in everything I do. Whether I am leading my team, working with a client, or even how my films come across to the audience in the end, I try to create a pocket of understanding. I try to live a mile in their shoes. I try to make work that excites me because it means something to someone besides myself.”

Garret is a Cincinnati based Director and has been on the Storyocity roster since the studio’s inception. His work gravitates towards immersive storytelling through high-contrast, textural imagery, often featuring close ups of faces, eyes and hands. “If eyes are the window to the soul, then hands tell the history.”

His loves include fingerprints in the dust, early morning light on a stained coffee cup, and piles of shoes by the front door.

Outside of his career as a filmmaker, Garret enjoys exploring self expression through drawing, photography, cooking, and exploring nature.
